Coffeesmith Oxford

Dog Friendly Cafe in the City Centre

Kristina and I took Oak to Coffeesmith a dog friendly cafe in the city centre.

Coffeesmith cafe is in a beautiful 12th century building, you can feel the history echoing in the structure. They have sympathetically decorated the inside and have quaint tables and chairs. Its easy to find as Its just off cormarket street, in the golden cross centre, across from McDonald’s. Coffeesmith is dog friendly unlike The Covered Market, which is not dog friendly, so if you have your dog its best not to cut through the covered market to get to it.

The café, is set within a beautiful courtyard. They have a choice of outdoor seating in front of this charming building. Kristina chose to go to Coffeesmith as she had read online, that dogs were welcome and humans were tolerated! Which we both thought was great.

Dogs are welcome both inside and outside, which is nice as English weather can be a bit inclement. The staff were dog friendly and made a fuss of Oak, which was lovely. There is a jar of dog biscuits on the counter, which is the first thing you encounter. The display of human cakes and pastry’s, which looked mouth-watering were beautifully displayed further along. Coffeesmith offer a wide range of coffees, including their house blend, they make all the old favourite such as mocha and latte, which is what Kristina and I ordered.

We sat outside on a pair of sweet benches which had a low table between them. Oak had lots of room to spread out and enjoyed the coolest of the paving as it was a hot morning. There was a welcoming breeze that funnelled through the courtyard. Kristina and I was struck by the ambience of the courtyard and coffee shop.

It was nice to step away from the hurly burly of the busy Cornmarket Street. The courtyard felt calm and restful. Kristina chose a cake and said it tasted delicious. Oak was very interested in the coffee which was brought out to our table, which gave me a good photo opportunity as she lent forward over the table to sniff it. The coffee was prepared with care as both cups were decorated with a swirly pattern, I took ages sipping mine, as I was enjoying the pleasant surroundings. Oak was really good, and a staff member brought her out a water bowl and gave her a big fuss, which of course she deserved as she’s a great dog.

Coffeesmith Oxford is a family run business and golden cross is their second location, with their first in Witney. Oak Kristina and I really got a warm welcome from their friendly team. Great service, coffee and food.

We give Coffeesmith a woof o meter rating of 5 out of 5 as they were super dog friendly and the whole experience was wonderful.
